I’ve had 3 surgical procedures in my adult life and the recovery for each of them were my most challenging experiences yet. I’ve also struggled with my mental and physical health, and with family life in the mix I, like a lot of people, lost my way a little.  

I value independence very much and to be in a position where this is taken away is extremely difficult. I was lucky enough to have a good support network but unfortunately, others may not have this support for whatever reason. I would feel like a burden, too “proud” to ask for help, and it took me a long time to realise that in fact I wasn’t a burden. Independence is hugely valued to everyone yet we all need that extra pair of hands from time to time. That’s why I, The Homemade Helper am reaching out. 

I believe we should all be treated with dignity, empathy, kindness, respect and trust, and really help those most in need despite of age or gender. We all have a part to play in looking out for ourselves and others.

It’s inevitable we will all need some Homemade Help at some point in our lives regardless of age, we’re all human and have basic needs. When we cannot meet these needs ourselves, we feel powerless. I want to restore this for you. Let me help you like others helped me. Thankfully, the support I received during my difficult times helped me become the person I am today and to give some of this back to others would just be wonderful and rewarding. 

This is why I started The Homemade Helper.

I’m family orientated and understand how precious our relatives are and only want the best for them, and ourselves. 

I’ve worked for the NHS for a number of years within Women and Children’s; Paediatric Healthcare Assistant and Obstetrics Theatre Support Worker. I completed training courses including safeguarding children and adults, child protection, infection control, information governance (handling personal data securely and confidentially) and manual handling.
